About Our Office

The mission of the Morris County Department of Human Services is to provide help and assistance to residents in need, from children to families to seniors.

Services provided by the Department include financial and emergency assistance, access to mental health and substance abuse services, job training and support, prevention services for youth, support for veterans, transportation for the elderly & disabled, meals on wheels, and adult protective services for vulnerable adults at risk of abuse.

The Department also provides residential care for seniors & disabled at Morris View Healthcare Center, as well as for juveniles & youth at risk at the Juvenile Detention Center & Youth Shelter.

Other services include:

  • Plans and manages public funding for behavioral health services in collaboration with the NJ Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS)
    • oversees approximately $1,700,000 in Morris County Grant In Aid for services to community agencies
    • manages $848,652 in State Chapter 51 funding to agencies for primary addictions services
  • Provides information, referral, and advocacy to local residents in need of services
  • Community initiatives include the Public Forum for Consumers and Families and a professional conference for human service workers focusing on serving individuals with co-occurring mental health and addictions disorders
